about

After much self-reflection during the pandemic shutdown, Los Angeles native independent R&B/Soul artist Selina Albright will release an introspective new single in August 2021, entitled “Jenny (Perfect Little Rows),” about the tedious process of shedding the habits, expectations, and harmful thoughts that keep her from experiencing the fullness of life’s joy. Nicknaming the unhealed part of herself “Jenny,” Albright uses her relatable lead vocal to lure her listeners into their own journey of self-transformation, aided by a fresh but familiar groove and a haunting backing vocal arrangement.

In preparation for the release of “Jenny (Perfect Little Rows),” Albright will Executive Produce a music video, seek heavy digital radio promotion, and revive her brand to reflect her personal metamorphosis. The pandemic put her tour schedule on over a year of hiatus, as with many artists, and now she is excited to hit the ground running with a multi-city music tour, which will feature live renditions of her 2020 releases that have not yet been performed onstage!

Much like her previous releases, Albright continues in her unique ability to convert her personal metamorphoses into refreshing musical testimonies. She certainly is one whose voice and spirit pierce directly to the soul and command attention.

In her style, you’ll hear influences of Ella Fitzgerald, Maxwell, Minnie Ripperton, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Amel Larrieux, D’Angelo, Mariah Carey and Dinah Washington. A balanced blend of all of these is the key to her versatility, empowering her to maintain creative flexibility from project to project.

She regularly pulls back the curtain for her social media followers to reveal a dynamic glimpse of who she is, has been, or is becoming. Then, she therapeutically transforms her life experiences into intimate, relatable lyrics and velvety melodies that would appease any music lover.

Albright’s 2010 Jazz single “You and I” was one of iTunes’ Top 100 Jazz Downloads. Her 2013 EP “Brighter” topped the UK Soul Chart for four weeks straight, and her 2016 Jazz single “Sun Comes Up” would prime the market for her 2017 debut R&B/Soul CD “Conversations,” which put Selina Albright’s catalog on the map internationally, earning her GroundBreakin UK’s Best Soul Female Artist Award. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic she released two singles that reign as #1 Hits on the Official Indie Soul Chart flooded satellite and terrestrial radio waves and sparked international excitement: “Discovering,” a sparkling celebration of her eventful transition into motherhood; and “Holding On,” an emotionally-charged call to action against social injustice in the United States, paired with a compelling music video - her directorial debut.

Under her belt are a number of notable collaborative projects and vocal features across many genres. You’ll hear her recorded with Smooth Jazz artists like Gerald Albright, Andrae Crouch, Peter White, Dave Koz, Rick Braun, David Benoit, and Jonathan Butler. Aside from these, the artist has also joined forces with Electronic Dance Music DJs like Manufactured Superstars, Forcing Function, and Vinnie Maniscalco, demonstrating yet another facet to her creativity, and the world has responded strongly.

Even more notable than her recording credits is her extensive international performance history. She has traveled the world on her solo tours, and also shared the stage with a long list of artists: pianists Jeff Lorber, George Duke, Joe Sample, Brian Culbertson, and Keiko Matsui; guitarists Peter White, Nick Colionne, and Adam Hawley; bassists Marcus Miller and Gerald Veasley; saxophonists Maceo Parker, David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum, Steve Cole, Gianni Vancini, Boney James, Jeff Kashiwa, Eric Darius, and Candy Dulfer; flautist Althea Rene; trumpeters Hugh Masekela, Rick Braun, and Ilya Serov; bands Pieces of a Dream and Four80East; and vocalists Chaka Khan, Will Downing, Eric Roberson, Regina Belle, Algebra Blessett, Lindsey Webster, Tony Momrelle, Aubrey Logan, Maysa, and The Temptations.
